|
|
A few quick questions. I am new to whiskey so I don't have a ton of tasting experience, but so far have enjoyed Macallan 10, Glenmorangie Port Wood, and absolutely LOVED Bowmore Dusk. Sad to find out it is not offered anymore.
1. What product in the current Bowmore line is closest to Dusk?
2. Since I enjoyed the peatiness and medicinal qualities of Dusk, what would be the next step up in the Islay whiskeys (I was thinking of trying either some Ardbeg or Laphroaig... but nothing too extreme yet)?
Thanks for any replies. |

If you have an asda local to you i would recomend popping down and seeing if they have there own brand ISLAY whisky in stock, this is a classic islay tasting whisky with the smokey notes you like with the price tag of only £13.50. (Scored high in the new bible 91pts)
Or if you like Bowmore i would recomment trying Bowmore 15yo Darkest, finnished in sherry cask so has some sweetness to it normally £30 - £50 depending on where you buy!
Hope this helps and welcome to SMW |

Personally i found the Bowmore Darkest quite poor, not one i would purchase again, but everyones tastes vary. Have you tried the Bowmore 12 year old or the Bowmore Legend these would be my choice from Bowmore at this price range.
If you like Bowmore you just may love Ardbeg or Laphroaig. I would recommend trying the Ardbeg 10 and the Laphroaig 10 both excellent whiskies. These are much heavier peated whiskies than the Bowmore and not always to everyones taste.
There is a whisky flavour map on this site is pretty useful but cant find it at the moment. |
