Hi Everyone

I am relatively new to collecting whisky and am looking at an investment for the future. I have narrowed my choice down to four and these are:

Glenglassaugh 1973 The Family Silver
Clynelish 14 YO Flora & Fauna (1st edition with wooden presentation box)
Glenfiddich 21 YO Havana Reserve
Ardbeg "Very Young" Committee Approved

I was wondering which would be the best investment. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

All four are very collectable rare whiskies. Are you thinking of a short term or long term investment. Choice also depends on how much you are paying for the bottles

It would be for a long term investment (10 years or more). Having done some research, I can get the Glenglassugh or Clynelish for 150 pounds each. The Ardbeg or Glenfiddich would be 180 pounds each.

Thanks

i think they all would be good investments and will all certainly increase in value in the next 10 years. The more iconic brand being Glenfiddich will always sell easily so will Ardbeg Committee, whether one will increase in value much more than another is hard to predict.

As far as an investment i would go for the Glenfiddich and the Ardbeg out of these 4.

IMO special releases from the iconic distilleries will always be in demand so i would go for the Glenfiddich 21 Havana Reserve first with the Ardbeg Very Young Committee 2nd. Hard to say how much more the Clynelish 14 Flora & Fauna will increase in value but could be a good buy also.

Thanks for your advice so far. I think that I am leaning towards the Glenfiddich as it is one of the big distilleries that will hopefully always have an interest from buyers.

I have only been able to find one company that sells the Havana Reserve, after hours of searching. This in itself would indicate that there is next to none available anywhere to buy. This is also reflected in the price which has increased a lot in recent months.

Thanks again for your comments. Smile
