tonight opened a bottle of the Benromach Traditional with no age statement, first time i have had it and i am very pleasantly surprised, in fact i love it I bought it as i hadnt had anything from this distillery and thought i would give it a go. The light peat smoke from start to finish just makes it for me and i must say wasnt expecting it in a Speyside malt.
What are the other bottlings like in the Benromach range, are they worth a go. |

| The Benromach 21 year old is very good indeed and it isnt that expensive for its age and quality, around £50 - £60 i think i paid. Anyway if you like the Traditional you will like the 21 it has the same light smoke through it. |

I really liked it too. Tried some really nice Benromachs while on a boat with Dave Broom last year (fancy man, fancy man)
Really liked the Madeira finish, not a fan of the peated expression. _________________ Edinburgh Whisky Blog |

I have had a few from Benromach, they have a number of different finishes which have been released by Gordon & MacPhail since they reopened the distillery and any i have tried i have been impressed with. All i have tried seem to have what i suppose you can call the Benromach signature note of light peat.
I did like the Benromach Peat Smoke 2002, 21 and 10 year olds and the Madeira wood. I wasnt so fussed on the Marsala wood but it was ok, may be to your taste. I have a bottle of the Benromach Organic which i havent opened yet but i have heard good things about it. |

| Fergie, I have a bottle of the Benromach Organic also which i have yet to open. Obviously natural colour with it being organic but it does look very dark and rich compared to the Traditional. The darkness surprised me as it was aged in virgin American oak casks. Curiosity will get the better of me some day and i wil open it, trying to resist as i have far too many opened at the moment. |

| Hodge have you tried the Ardmore Traditional Cask, you may like this if you liked the Benromach Traditional, i thought they were similar beasts. |

Thanks all for the replies.
Had a look at the 21, £55 at TWE so may ad it it to my next order. Lucas that is some fancy company you drink with, i have always enjoyed any madeira finished whisky i have had in the past so i will add it to my hit list.
I take it the Peat Smoke is heavily peated, not sure about this one, when i want heavy peated i head to Islay but will watch for this one at future tasting event before buying a whole bottle.
That didnt occur to me Grant, i suppose the Benromach Traditional and the Ardmore Traditional Cask are kind of similar, i do prefer the Benromach but the Ardmore did have a bit more kick with the higher abv.
thanks again for the replies
