Does anyone know if its necessary to store a Glenury Royal 1970 36 yr old horizontal similar to wine?
I know that generally its fine upright for most recent bottles, but I'm not sure if this one needs to be horizontal to protect the cork. I aim to store it for a couple of years.
Any advice on this greatly appreciated.

Always store whisky upright NEVER ever store whisky on its side like wine.
Due to the quality of corks used in today's bottlings there should be no deterioration, and there should be no problem storing your bottle upright as the alcohol vapour in the bottle should be sufficient to keep the cork moist and prevent it from drying out.
If you stored it on its side the strength of the alcohol would deteriorate the cork. |

| Thats a nice bottle you have got yourself brinleyuk, i was looking at it myself over at The Whisky Exchange who have it on offer for £199 a saving of £300. As Mc Kay says store it upright. |

Gregor, thanks I have to agree. The Whisky Exchange seem to have a really good deal on it.
