I was given a bottle of whiskey many years ago by my father which had been passed down to him from his father. I'm curious as to how old it is and what it may be worth - if anything. The whiskey was distilled by John Dewers and Sons distillers in Perth, Scotland. It is unopened, has a foil seal covering a wire casing, similar to the ones on champagne bottles. The label has Her Majestys crest on it with the wording '50 Gold and prize medals' on either side of the crest. It also has a link of pictures of medals with years ranging from 1886 - 1906 printed underneath

Sounds like it is the same as this 1950s bottle of Dewars White Label which is available from The Whisky Exchange for £225

Dewar's White Label / Spring Cap / Bot. 1950's
