Hi,

Has anyone been to the Talisker distillery, specifically the shop.
I am a big fan of their single malt, and plan a trip there next spring, but in the mean time I have a friend visiting soon, and was wondering if anyone knows if they sell anything special in the shop that can't be bought anywhere else?
Any help is appreciated.

Like most of the Diageo distilleries Talisker offers visitors a distillery only bottling. Not sure what they have now but they did have a Talisker distillery bottling only 10 year old which was bottled at cask strength 60% abv. It had the usual Talisker characteristics that you would expect, spicy, peppery, malty, a nice touch of peat but with more kick being 60%.

I had noticed recently that other diageo owned distilleries are offering cask strength distillery bottlings but with no age statement so i dont know if the Talisker distillery bottling has now also gone down this no age statement route.

Rob you could try phoning the distillery, they are usually very helpful. The number for Talisker is 01478 614308 also worth phoning in advance when you visit yourself if you fancy the Talisker Tasting Tour which costs £15 but is more indepth than the basic £5 tour and includes a 5 sample tasting session but you have to call in advance for this as they dont have this tour every day.
