Hi could somebody please help me,
I bought a bottle of Macphail's 100 year centenary bottle on ebay for £92.
The bottle is a blue ceramic sort of bottle in a blue wooden case and is marked with bottle number 155
The bottle only appears to be half full, but the bottle looks like it has been unopened but you can't actually see the cork as it has been sealed in wax

The bottle is for my Best man who's surname is macphail so i thought it would make a nice gift.
Could you tell me if the price i paid is right
Is the half fill bottle due to evaporation or the way it has been stored
Any help would be appreiciated
Thanks
Joe

Gordon & MacPhail celebrated 100 years as Malt Whisky Specialists in 1995, although i am not familiar with the centenary bottling you have bought, if it is only half full, it does seem to have lost an awful lot out of the bottle since 1995 (i am assuming that is when it was bottled). Whisky can evapourate quickly through being stored badly, for example if the bottle has been stored on its side and the alcohol strength of the whisky has caused the cork to perish a bit increasing the evaporation.

did it state in the item discription as being half empty?

if it didnt you can claim your money back via ebay, or if you payed via paypal claim through them.

just tell them that it was a false discription and that it was not accurate.

hope this helps
