It seems that the popularity of Scotch Malt Whisky is still on the increase going by the figures for visitor numbers this year for visitors to the Morrison Bowmore distilleries.
Morrison Bowmore has announced a record whisky tourism season for its three whisky distillery visitor centres this year and for the company's second Auchentoshan whisky festival in August.
Visitor numbers to the Bowmore Distillery on Islay increased by an impressive 29% during the 2010 season compared with the same period last year.
An overall nine per cent rise in visitor numbers across all three Morrison Bowmore distillery visitor centres was reported for 2010, which includes the Glen Garioch Distillery near Aberdeen.

| That is some increase in visitors at the Bowomre distillery in just 1 year. I would guess it is an indication of the growing popularity and interest in whisky, especially the islay whiskies. Also it is becoming well known almongst whisky drinkers probably through the likes of the internet and sites like this that bowmore is one of the better distilleries to visit. |
