The days are numbered for travel retail exclusive Highland Park 16 year old and 21 year old. Highland Park are releasing a new Vintage range for travel retail and are withdrawing the Highland Park 16 & 21 year old whiskies. Personally i shall miss the 21 year old.
For more info on the new Highland Park Vintage range for travel retail or duty free as myself and i would think most of you still refer to it see here:

That is a pity about the HP 21 i did like it but it. It explains why they reduced the ABV from 47% down to 40% not long ago. Looks like they where stretching out stock while they were waiting on the maturation of the new Vintage series to replace it.
Looks like the new Highland Park 1990 vintage is the one to replace the old 21 year old.

That is a pity that the HP 21 is no more. Hopefully the 1990 matches up to it for quality, it is certainly a few pound more at £88, wasnt the HP21 around £65 in travel retail shops.

| It is a shame they have discontinued the 21 year old, i always hoped they would have put it on general release rather than just selling it in duty free shops, guess that isnt going to happen now. |

Just a thought, but i wonder if F. Paul Pacult actually likes any other whisky as the only time we ever hear him mentioned is in connection with him saying Highland Park 18 is the best spirit in the world, dont get me wrong the guy has a point HP 18 is amongst the very best but who is F. Paul Pacult
Shame they have done away with the Highland Park 21.

This is him Mac
This is from the Spirit Journal website, so basically what he has to say about himself
| Quote: | He is the author of four books: A Double Scotch: How Chivas Regal and The Glenlivet Became Global Icons (Wiley, 2005), the best-selling American Still Life: The Jim Beam Story and the Making of the World (Wiley, 2003) as well as Kindred Spirits (Hyperion, 1997) and The Beer Essentials (Hyperion, 1997).
Paul also won an award for wine journalism excellence in 2001 from The Academy of Wine Communications. He is the only journalist in the world to concurrently be a life member of Keepers of the Quaich whisky society (Edinburgh, Scotland), a life member of KentuckyBourbon Hall of Fame, and a life member of FranceCompany of Armagnac Musketeers. |
I know what you mean Mac, in the whisky world i have only heard his name mentioned in connection with Highland Park 18 and no other whisky and i have only heard his name because Highland Park told us what he said. |

If it wasnt for Highland Park i would never have heard of him either.
Shame they have stopped the 21, the 16 was ok but didnt come close to the quality of the 18 so i wont miss that. I shall watch for the new vintages this summer hopefully there is a good replacement for the 21 amongst them. The tasting note for the 1973 appeals to me but not my bank manager unfortunately.

| I will miss the HP 21, i am probably in the minority but i also liked the HP 16, not the quality of the HP 18 or 21 but it wasnt priced to be. |

| I hope the 1990 is a good replacement for the 21 year old as it was a very good whisky even when they reduced it to 40%. Anyone tasted the new 1990 yet, is it any good? |
