Whisky Eyewitness Companions edited by Charles McLean and part of publishers Dorling Kindersleys popular Eyewitness Companion series of books.
I was actually sent a copy of this book by Dorling Kindersley a while ago and have been a bit slow in posting a bit about it here.
The book was edited by Charles MacLean but contains contributions from a host of names from the world of whisky such as Dave Broom, Ulf Buxrud, Ian Buxton, Gavin Smith and many more.
Whisky Eyewitness Companion is a great first-time starter book for the whisky novice or anyone who just wants to know more about whisky. It is comprehensive and like all DK books, very well illustrated.
Featuring every aspect of whisky, it lays out the bare facts, the deals with everything from production techniques to nosing & tasting, distillery origins and history and a few tasting notes for each distillery but it is certainly not a comprehensive tasting note guide if you want that then pick up a whisky bible. Whether you want to research more about your favourite whisky or distillery, or you want to discover an untapped gem. It covers over150 whiskies including malts and blends not only from Scotland but it also covers some of the more well known whiskies from the USA, Canada, Ireland, Japan and Europe. Formatted into a handy almost pocket-size guide.
Overall whether new to whisky or not it is a very good book for the money, just over £8 at Amazon and that includes free delivery.
