I am looking to get myself something different to try away from the core range bottlings from the popular distilleries but still at a decent price. I have came up with a list of a few whiskies i havent tried and wondered what others thought, are they worth a try or not?
This is what i am considering - Longrow CV, Ileach Cask Strength, Amrut Fusion, Douglas Laing Big Peat, Compass Box The Spice Tree

Jackson you cant go wrong with any of them, they are all excellent whiskies. My choice out of them all would be the Longrow CV and the Ileach Cask Strength. I only just tried the Amrut Fusion recently myself and it is very good, i only picked it up due to the good press it has had but it was deserved IMO. The Big Peat isnt as big in paet as the name may suggest but it is a very nice blended peated Islay malt. The Spice Tree is the Spce Tree MKII as compass box who produce it had a wee bit of a run in with the Scotch Whisky Association about the way they produced it, the origial bottling was very good and so so is the new bottling but maybe a bit less spice.

As Alastair says they are all good whiskies. The Ileach is a young Lagavulin IMO and very good value for money especially as it is cask strength. You may like the Springbank CV 3 X 20cl pack which contains Springbank CV, Hazelburn CV and a Longrow CV you then get to try 3 whiskies for your money.

The Longrow CV and the ileach CS are both excellent young whiskies. The Amrut is also good, it surprised me probably because i wasnt expecting much from an Indian whisky. In fact they are all good.

Keith, I also believe the Ileach Cask Strength is a young Lagavulin and the bottles i have had a very good one at that. Jackson you wont be dissappointed with any of the 4 bottles you mention they are all very good.
