Highland Park Dragon Legend

NAS single malt scotch abv 43.1% £28 Waitrose , Tesco, £40 Amazon

Appearance- Bright light gold

Nose- Very closed on first opening the bottle, but after a long time smokey honey ,a whiff of heather, fruitcake

Taste- Peaty and sweet, a decent mouthfeel, young spirit very apparent , too much oak, the aromatic signature Highland Park taste is in the background and it is smokier than standard HP.

Finish - Drying and rather short

Conclusion- Not bad at £28, but I wouldn’t pay £40 for it .My bottle noticeably improved over a month opened, shame it wasn’t aged a little more.

The young highland parks have gone down a bit the last few years, I tried the 10 a few months ago, very easy drinking malt, perfect for summer but not going to blow you away

Ralfy, I was hoping this was the same as the excellent miniature I got with a bottle of HP12 a year or so ago. It isn’t. I have a feeling that might be Dark Origens because when I checked the miniature online it was £86 a bottle. Mrs C chucked the empty miniature bottle away unfortunately.

Seems you have to pay serious money for a decent HP

Highland 18 is a nice drop but at £90 ish I’ve left it alone, my friend managed to get me a bottle for£65 two years ago , wings of the eagle was enjoyable and that was £80 ☹️

Thanks for the heads-up, I don’t normally spend that sort of money, Glenfarclas 105 or Lagavulin 16 seem very good to me, so £60 is my usual limit.

You may also like the Amazon exclusive Highland Park Viking Tribe which can go on offer for as low as £28 with free postage, i usually grab a bottle or two when it goes on offer at this price, just checked and it is £32 at th moment which is still a decent price.
