I have found myself drining a fair amount of Monkey Shoulder lately. Given its price (about £22) it is easy to get hold of offers me enough interest for a regular drink.
I have picked it in my blog (http://newwhiskyworld.blogspot.com/2011/01/this-years-dark-horse-is-monkey.html) as brand to really grow this year.
Does anyone have any other suggestions for a similar priced blend/blended malt that might offer something a bit different?

I found monkey shoulder a pleasant enough whisky, for me it is very good for what it was created for - adding mixers and making cocktails.
As a malt whisky there is so much better for this money. Not one i would buy again. As a whisky to add mixers or creating a cocktail it is ideal. |

I agree, in my opinion it is a great blended malt.
Other blends that i enjoy and rate include; Johnnie Walker Black Label, Ballentines Finest and 17yo, and Hibiki 12yo.
Nice mixed in the list above, all very different, and generally +/- £10 from Monkey Shoulder price point.[/url] |

I found it a nice enough blended malt with a very short finish. Definitely worth a go when you see it on offer in the supermarkets. As Blackadder say "As a malt whisky there is so much better for this money." |
