Method and
Madness has released two new experimental
Irish single pot still whiskey's, both
matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon
and Sherry casks and one finished in
Wild Cherry Wood and the other finished
in Acacia Wood.

Method and Madness the
innovatively experimental whiskey
brand from the creative Irish
whiskey making team down at the
Midleton Distillery in Cork,
Ireland, has added two new
experimental limited edition Irish
whiskeys to its Method and Madness
range; and I am pleased to say that
both new whiskey's are what Irish
Distillers does best, Irish Single
Pot Still Whiskey's, or at least I
hope that they are a couple of
examples of what they do best.
Given the
experimental nature of the Method and
Madness whiskey range the two new single
pot still whiskey's should offer Irish
whiskey fans something a bit
different to the pot still whiskey's
which they produce at Midleton which
they are already
familiar with.
The first whiskey is the
Method and Madness Wild Cherry Wood
Finish, it was initially
matured in a combination of ex-Bourbon
and sherry casks before being finished
for between seven months and four
years in nine casks crafted from wild cherry
wood, sourced from France. Wood from
the cherry tree is characterised by its
porosity, which results in significant
interaction between the wood and the
whiskey and the folks at Midleton say
that it has added complex flavours of
shredded ginger, coconut and black tea
to the ex-bourbon and sherry
cask-matured whiskey.
Bottled at 46% ABV, Method and
Madness Irish Single Pot Still Wild
Cherry Wood Finish is available in six
markets, including Ireland, the UK and
global travel retail, from September
2019 at the RRP of €92.
The second new whiskey is the
Method and Madness Acacia Wood
Finish, a single
pot still Irish whiskey that has been
finished in barrels crafted from Acacia
wood, sourced from France, for between
one and four years. Similar to the Wild
Cherry Wood Finish, the Acacia Wood
Finish was initially matured in a
combination of ex-Bourbon and sherry
casks before being finished in the dense
acacia wood which has a tight grain that
is said to slowly impart rich nutty and
chocolatey flavours and a dark mahogany
hue.
Method and Madness Irish Single Pot
Still Acacia Wood Finish is bottled at
46% ABV and is available exclusively
through the Celtic Whiskey Shop in
Ireland from September 2019 at the RRP
of €92.

will find the current Method and Madness whiskey range
