Has anyone else noticed that Macallan Gold has vanished from the supermarket shelves almost overnight and has now started to climb in value on the auction pages?
I’ve managed to bag a few from local shops just in case.
The last time this happened we had the major rebrand in packaging. Maybe that’s coming?[/img]

Yes it has disappeared from the big supermarkets around me, it also seems to be gone from the online whisky shops, there are sellers on Amazon trying to sell it for crazy prices so i suspect it is either gone or they have a maturing stock level problem and it may return in the future as The Macallan still list it on their own website and I havent heard any announcements saying it has been discontinued. It would be great to see the returm of the Macallan 10 year old sherry oak but i would imagine it would have a hefty price tag.

There was speculation last year that it was being discontinued so I took a chance and raided Tesco for a case at £36 a bottle. Looks like a smart move.

Yes see that’s what I’m talking about. On a side note I raided a few local shops. Picked up 2 for £35 and luckily enough a bottle of the old Gold 1824 version for £24 on the backstreets of Dunfermline.. win.

Went to Macallan recently and the shop confirmed it’s discontinued.

Thats a different bottle, namely the 12 year old version.
The discussion is about the non- aged Gold.
However, the 12 year old Gold Cask may also be discontinued now.
