I decided to do a head to head tasting today of three more Canadian whiskies. Here are my brief taste notes for each:
Canadian Club Chairman's Select 100% Rye 40%abv
Color: Orange Amber
Nose: Lime, nutty, musk, orange rind and oaky overtone.
Taste: Full-bodied, tart, spice, warming, toffee
Comments: A satisfying Canadian whisky with no surprises
Score:82.5
Schenley Golden Wedding 40 % abv
Color: Light Gold
Nose: Honeydew melon, vanilla nougat, chocolate fudgesicle, orange nectar
Taste: Medium to full-bodied, smooth, chocolate, malty, nutmeg
Finish:Long, spice, Swiss chocolate, oak tannin flecks
Comments: A well-rounded high level Canadian whisky
Score: 89.5
Liquormen's Ol' Dirty Canadian Whisky
Color: Gold
Nose: Aftershave lotion (Old Spice), sharp lime peel, raw snow peas, orange meringue
Taste: Light to medium bodied, sharp oaky tones, leather, evaporating sweetish halo
Comments: A sharp tasting young Canadian whisky, drinkable but could use some more cask age and perhaps a higher ABV as well.
Score: 79.5 _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."
