|
|
Is there another sherried whisky in the price range that can compare to Aberlour A'bunadh? I've heard good things about GlenDronach 12. I'm interested in Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso.Glenfarclas gets good review, but the 15 isn't available where I live.
Advise or ideas welcome |

Cadenheads often have some exceptional sherries drams, at the moment the Mortlach 29 and a GlenRothes 21 are great _________________ Talisker 18 - the rest are just details |

The Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso is good and certainly worth a try although not as heavily sherried as the Aberlour A'bunadh if that is what you are after. |

I would suggest these for you to consider
Glenfarclas 105
Glendronach Cask Strength
Glenlivet Nadurra Oloroso
Glengoyne Cask Strength is good but has a less intense sherry influence so it may disappoint
Personally I would say go for the Glenfarclas 105 |

If you like the Aberlour a'bunadh I would say that the Glenfarclas 105 is a must try, in fact all that jcarrick mentions are worth a try. |

Can you get hold of the Glenfarclas 17 where you live? It is a favorite of mime which I would highly recommend. |

Thanks gents. Glenfarclas 17 and 105 are both available, and only slightly more than A'bunadh.
Nadurra Oloroso is a bit cheaper. I was thinking I'd go with the Nadurra Oloroso, both for the sherry and to compare to Nadurra 16. However after buying a bottle of Nadurra, I wasn't as thrilled as I thought I'd be based on reviews. Interestingly Nadurra 16 was $8 cheaper than Nadurra First Fill. |

Glendronach 12 is very good for the money. I also like cadenheads offerings as mentioned earlier. |

Just picked up a bottle of Paul John Oloroso cask. Reviews have been great rare though. |

The oloroso cask is good but don’t forget this is a finish and not full maturation !! And an expensive comparison compared to the others mentioned above.. if you want a real stunning sherry finish whisky take a look at the Glen Moray 1994 .. voted best speyside single cask y whisky magazine and my whisky of the year 2017... costs £125 and is almost all gone !! |

Second this, although I'd normally put the A'Bunadh in a different class given it's cask strength (and a different class from most sherried Scotches).
A good rule of thumb is if the price-point is higher than average for the age category, it'll likely outperform cheaper whiskies of the same age, and maybe even cheaper whiskies from the age category above it.
At least that's been my experience.. |

Try anything in the Glengoyne range. Great whisky , Great pricing, especially for the 21yr old. |
