This one matured in first fill sherry cask, 368 bottles.
Murray's Taste Notes:
Color: Hay
Nose: Granny smith apples, dried apricots and sweetened rhubarb. Citronella accents sprout chestnut and crab apple essences. Late vanilla.
Taste: Fruit n's spice, honey dew melon segues into mild pepper, creamy with hint of merengue and tangerine and Mandarin oranges. Mocha chocolate erupts with buttermilk tenticles.
Finish: Long, citrus meld with bananas and sweetened plantains.
Comments: A fruity Speyside single malt with a spice halo.
Score: 88 _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Cheers for your note Murray. Not a distillery we hear much of and one that I have tasted very little of as almost all of the production is destined for the Chivas blends which as you know I am a big fan of. It really is rare to see this as a single malt, however given the booming popularity of single malts I wonder if Chivas have any plans to release an official distillery bottling as they reopened the distillery in 2008. |

Cheers James. Yes, actually I too have not had much previous exposure to this distillery. I was pleasantly impressed with this single malt offering. It was a big hit at my club's tasting and my notes were centered out and gleaned considerable attention Tuesday night. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

Sounds like it was a good one Murray, I have only ever sampled Braeval at a tasting, as James says it would be see Chivas release an official distillery bottling of Braeval in the future. |
