Here are my own taste notes from the event last night:

Nose: Blood oranges burst forth. The layers of sherry influence expose themselves in brilliant fashion. There are burnt almonds here with a very subtle sweet peat, charred oak and lovely aromatic pipe tobacco. Bulrushes, anise (sticky lice) and mixed salted nuts provide a caboose.

Palate: Orange rind and blood oranges spring forth in dramatic fashion. One can detect light peaty smokehouse hues. This is not the typical Islay peat but more subdued, lurking in the shadows but having the right effect.

Finish: Long, tobacco leaves resting in the storage barn, that shadowy peat, fireplace ash with layers of spice and oak.

Rating: 96

A superb dram.
