Had a bit of good news today so poured a big dram of Laga 16 into one of these babies:

Been trying to catch the play of the light in the crystal for a while with my crappy phonecam, I think this is about as good as it's going to get! Anyway I love these, they're half a kilo each, made from handcut Italian lead crystal and, best of all, they were used in the seminal sci-fi film Bladerunner Cool

I know it's OTT but I thought it could start an interesting thread for unusual or novelty glassware? Pictures please!

I do most of my drinking from a Glencairns glass, I also have a wonderful set of whisky glasses from cut crystal and some quite funky glasses with a kind of ball on the bottom so they don't sit straight.

No photos though, as a) I don't know how to host or post them, b) I'm posting from my work phone and have no way of downloading or up loading photos from it.

But still would be interested to know what everyone else is drinking out of.

Had a BA3 to your good news also mate.

Recently I have been using the Single Malts of Scotland tasting glass which they sell at The Whisky Exchange.

I have previously used some Riedel copita style glasses, that was an expensive mistake, very fragile and i broke them in no time.

I often use a Glencairn glass which i have at least 50 of (great for tastings/get togethers with friends and family), i accumulated them by going to tastings and whisky events over the years. When i go to a tasting now i have stopped bringing home the free Glencairn glass.

And i still like to pour a whisky into a quality crystal tumbler which i have a few of, got them as gifts over the years.

I usually stick to a Glencairn glass and not as fragile as the long stem whisky tasting glasses. I havent managed to break a Glencairn yet and no problems pitting them in the dishwasher.

I too use Glencairn glasses, in my case without stem. However, what I also enjoy is pouring directly from the bottle into one of my rarer shot glasses to get a precise measure and then into the Glencairn. I have a neat bunch of these shot glasses, vintage from Seagram's etc. The way I pour from one to the other has become something of a ritual for me.

Here's tonight's glassware!

I like the similarity of the shapes together, vaguely tulip-like. Obviously you will be familiar with the Glencairn glass and the Duvel glass is kind of obvious. The jug is also by Glencairn, the Iona water jug.

A great trio even without the music.

...like this one!

That's about the extent of my glassware range, save for the beer and wine glasses. I did quite fancy the Riedels but, as James says, they are very fragile and expensive. I had a round bottomed Talisker glass but, inevitably, it fell and smashed!

Very dinky! Glad you're enjoying the Penderyn, £28 seems a good price, was it on offer?
