That's the one, Murray. Assuming it's Batch Two it's made with 50% 15yo sherried grain and 50% malt from 8 distilleries ranging between 12 and 21 years and from Lowland, Highland, Speyside and Islay. Nothing like normal blends though, this has lots of character - if you like quality grain whisky and sherried notes this is a great choice. Personally I love it though, again, your price differentials come into play and I notice it's a 70cl bottle like we get here.
The discounts we're reporting seem to be because this is very last of batch two. I wonder if it hasn't sold very well. Batch three is now out so you may want to check which is being advertised at LCBO:

I noticed that Aldi now have Highland Park 12 for £24.99 and they had it marked as "Malt of the Month", hopefully this will mean they will be expanding their malt whisky range and at a decent price. They still have the Tweeddale Blend for £19.99 |

My local Aldi now have Ardmore for £22.99. Although it's NAS it's matured in quarter casks and seems to be regarded as decent so I'm quite tempted. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

I picked up a Tweeddale blend for £19.99 and a bottle of Ardmore for £22.99 today in Aldi. It is turning into a shop to keep an eye out for bargains. Not a shop i am in often but i will be making a point of nipping in every month. Also got a few bottles of Innis & Gunn beer for £1.25 each if i remember correctly which is a godd saving also. |

The beers are fantastic value, James. The Williams Bros beers are well stocked and £1.40 each, Deuchars IPA is £1.50 and even the £0.99 Banks's Bitter is very passable. The wines and spirits generally seem to be good value too, e.g. Marlborough Sauvignon for £5.70 and decent gin for £10 per bottle. _________________ "Whisky is liquid sunshine."

Nipped into Aldi to check what they have on offer and spotted a no age statement Scotch single grain whisky for £11.50, couldnt resist at this price. It is clearly going to be young but it has the dark tan of a whisky that has spent many years in a sherry cask, i went for it anyway. I will give it a try tonight and let you know if it is any good, fingers crossed.
Also spotted a bottle of Glen Turner blended malt which they have marked as "Malt of the Month", it had no age statement and priced at £22.99 the tube described it as double cask matured then madiera cask finished. I was tempted but gave it a miss, anyone here come across this bottle before. It was only the empty tube on the shelf for security reasons so i couldnt see if it had been given a fake tan but i would guess that it has. |
