Laphroaig is probably the Islay whisky i drink most, so it got my vote. But i do like whiskies from all the distilleries in this poll.
I am only in my early 30's does that blow your theory out the water Macallan Man?

The Ardbeg 10 y.o is great and such great value but the Ardbeg 1977 is the best Ardbeg (maybe even Islay) I have tasted.
Bowmore 17 is superb and is a classic as far as i am concerned. It is complex, fruity and balanced, with some peat, but it is not medicinal like some Islay whiskies. In my opinion Bowmore probably offer the biggest range of decent whisky on Islay.
Lagavulin 16 y.o is my choice from the Lagavulin distillery.
I dont think i have tasted an Islay malt which i havent very much enjoyed but the above stand out for me. |
I think you have summed it up for me Davy. I love them all but the Laguvulin 16 year old is extra special.

I felt a little sorry for Port Ellen with no votes so it got my vote as anytime i have ever had a Port Ellen malt i have enjoyed it very much and it is such a shame the distillery closed.

Don't forget to say which expression of Islay malt you lve so much. |
Hi William & John,
My favourite dram is Ardbeg. Having drunk whiskies since 1975, and malts since 2000 I it did not take me a long time before I found the ULTIMATE Malt!
I love the 10yo (as my staple drink) with the 17yo, the 1975 & 1977 which I have always at home as a special drink.
However as I'm living in the Whisky Capital Dufftown on Speyside, I have other malts that I love to drink some evenings like; Longrow, Springbank, Highland Park, Glen Ord, Clynelish and for Speysiders; Linkwood, Mortlach, Cragganmore etc.
Slainte

The Ardbeg is excellent and probably my favourite Islay distillery as already said the Ardbeg 10 is great value for money.
Another Islay whisky i enjoy very much is the Lagavulin 16.
I do have a preference for the smoky/peaty whiskies and the 2 i mentioned stand out for me.

I enjoy whisky from all the Islay distilleries but to me Ardbeg 10 is excellent and a great price. The Ardbeg 17 is also excellent.

Like a few of you have said above Ardbeg is my choice ofIslay distillery, the Ardbeg Ten is excellent and i think the best value for money dram you can get. I also always have a bottle of the Ardbeg 17 tucked away for special occasions.

I enjoy the whiskies from all the Islay distilleries but Ardbeg is the one i would miss most if it wasnt available. To me the Ardbeg 10 is great value for money and the Ardbeg 17 is superb.

There was no option "All of the above".
Seriously i just cant get enough of anything which comes out of the Ardbeg distillery. I live the 10 year old and the 17 is excellent.

Ardbeg for me, but interesting times are ahead with Ardbeg with the soon to be 100% glenmorangie produced 10 year old. Apparently the new Ardbeg Renaissance 10 is a cask strength version of what is to come later this summer. I dont think Ardbeg are going to make much fuss about the new release.

If i was to choose a favourite Islay distillery it would be Ardbeg but i like them all. I am quite partial to the Laphroaig at the moment, just depends on my mood.

Hy everyboby, i'm new in this forum and i write from north Italy, so excuse me for my english.
Well, i like very much Islay whisky and i think that my favourite one is Lagavulin 16, but i like Laphroaig too because i love their smell and their taste...they remember smoke and peat, they're simply delicious.
Sorry again for my english, hi everybody _________________ "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. " |
