Douglas Laing
unveils a not so timorous, Timorous
Beastie 12 Year Old Cask Strength.
2019's
first foot as far as new release
announcements here at Scotch Malt Whisky
goes is a not so timorous, Timorous
Beastie 12 Year Old Cask Strength limited edition
blended Highland malt whisky from
independent Glasgow based whisky company
Douglas Laing.
The new variant of the popular Timorous
Beastie brand has been bottled at 54.4%
ABV which should intensify the flavour
notes and no doubt the pleasure which
fans of the core range Timorous Beastie
expressions are familiar with.
Douglas Laing tell me that it has been
released to complement the existing core
range comprising of the classic,
non-age-statement Timorous Beastie and
the 10 Year Old small batch release,
both of which are continually available
in specialist retail.
The new limited edition 12 year old
expression is presented in a premium
gift tube with monochromatic colourways
and foil detail, and as we have come to
expect from Douglas Laing and in line
with their "as natural as it gets"
philosophy, the new cask strength whisky
is offered without colouring or
chill-filtration.
Rather appropriately given that the
brand takes its name from the "wee
moose" made famous by the Scotland's
national bard, Rabbie Burns, DL have
unveiled aunch plans for the special edition
which will include a Burns Night-themed Whisky
influencer activation, extensive social
media and Whisky-paired dinners in
several of the brand’s key markets.
Cara Laing, Director of Whisky at the
family-owned Scotch Whisky business,
commented on the release, saying: "It feels particularly fitting to launch
this special bottling of Timorous
Beastie in January, the month in which
we’ll celebrate Burns Night in honour of
our national bard. Proudly bottled at
natural cask strength, this feisty
special edition bursts with barley,
sugary marshmallow and citrus notes, and
unlike its namesake, Burns’ timid
field-mouse, it’s certainly not for the
faint-hearted! Incidentally, it’s also
‘National Cheese Lovers’ Day’ on January
20th, and this special edition bottling
is the perfect partner to a cheeseboard,
in particular a hard cheese such as a comté."
With a RRP of £59.99, only 3,000 bottles of Timorous Beastie
12 Year Old Cask Strength available from specialist online
whisky retailers such as
