Tamdhu Batch
Strength 2 named Best No Age Statement
whisky at the Spirit of Speyside
Festival 2017.
The Spirit of
Speyside Festival whisky awards are
pretty unique in the way they judge the
whiskies ensuring only the best whiskies
as judged by real whisky drinkers are
awarded with a best in category award.
The awards remains the only whisky
awards competition in the world that
places the power to determine the
winning drams in the hands of the public
rather than just the hands of of
professional journalists who have carved
themselves out an income by commenting
and writing about whisky.
This year saw Tamdhu Batch Strength 2
crowned as the Best No Age Statement
whisky, the result was announced on the
night of Sunday 30 April at the
Festival’s closing after the
complex richness and high-intensity of
Batch Strength II was favoured by
festival-goers.
The malt from the local Speyside
distillery was shortlisted by a selected
panel of spirit industry experts before
enduring the final taste test by members
of the public in a series of roving
judging sessions taking place over the
weekend.
Commenting on the awards, Iain Weir,
Brand Director for Tamdhu, said: "For
Tamdhu Batch Strength II to win such an
esteemed accolade at the Spirit of
Speyside Whisky Festival further
enforces the fact that the quality of
our malt is uncompromising, just as our
founders intended.
"Batch Strength II is a unique malt,
perfect for whisky connoisseurs and the
bottling is the closest you will get to
sampling a dram of whisky straight from
a Tamdhu cask!"
Based in the heart of Scotland’s malt
whisky country, Speyside, the Festival
ran from the 27 April – 1 May and
comprised over 500 events, welcoming
Scotch whisky fans from all over the
world.
