Talisker 41
year old Manzanilla Sherry Cask Finish, the
second release in the Bodega Series
trilogy.
Diageo has unveiled a Talisker 41
Year Old expression as the second
release in its Talisker Bodega Series.
The series, which will be a Trilogy was launched last year
with a 40 year old expression, aims
to celebrate the age old sherry
relationship the single malt has with
the historic wineries of the renowned
Spanish Sherry Triangle, where
Talisker once sourced its casks.
Bottled at 50.7% ABV, the Talisker 41
Year Old will be the oldest official
bottling of Talisker to have ever been
released, a limited release of 2,000
bottles which has been finished in
six Manzanilla casks which were sourced from
Spain's Bodega Delgado Zuleta, the
oldest sherry producer in Spain's famous
Sherry Triangle, each cask had
previously held Zuleta's flagship wine
La Goya.
Described as a rich whisky, the nose is
said to have a sweet fruitiness of
sultanas and orange peel framed by
sandalwood, with a tang of salty sea air
and smoky raw sugar. The taste offers a
fine balance between sweetness and
smoke. The finish is generously warming
and sustained, with a drying, softly
smoky conclusion, an extraordinary 41
year old liquid retaining the
unmistakeable character of Talisker.
The Talisker Bodega
Series 41 Year Old has a RRP of £2,900
for a 70cl bottle and will be
available
from August from specialist whisky retailers
such as The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop
and
Master of Malt
