Suntory to launch The Chita Japanese single grain whisky in global travel retail.
Up until now Suntory The Chita Japanese Single Grain whisky has only been available exclusively in the Japanese domestic market but from July this year The Chita will be available from global travel retail.
Chita is a grain distillery owned by Suntory and is located south of he Japanese city of Nagoya in the Aichi region. The majority of the grain whisky produced in Chita is used to produce the popular Hibiki blends. However a small part is bottled as a single grain under the name "Suntory The Chita Single Grain" which Suntory describe as having a light taste and delicately sweet fragrance.
Previously I have come across an independent bottling of The Chita single grain whisky which was bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society and now changes hands for up to £500 (shop price) but this NAS expression is the first original distillery bottling of The Chita available outside of Japan.
The release into global travel retail is in response to the ever increasing interest and demand for all styles of Japanese whisky globally and I am sure it will be snapped up by whisky enthusiasts around the world.
The Suntory The Chita Japanese Single Grain whisky travel retail release has a RRP of US $55/£38 which I am sure will make it even more tempting to whisky enthusiasts.
You will find the current Suntory whisky range available from specialist online whisky shops such as
The Whisky Exchange
