Smokehead
Sherry Bomb is described as an explosive
peaty sherried whisky.
I am sure this one will be of great
interest to those of you who enjoy a big
peated sherried whisky, Smokehead today
launched a new heavily peated limited
edition Islay
single malt called Smokehead Sherry Bomb
which they tell me is a heavily peated
Islay single malt that has been boldly
blasted by sherry casks.
Priced at £64.99 and bottled at a very
palatable 48% ABV, the full-bodied peaty
whisky is said to have been heavily
influenced by Oloroso Sherry casks to
create a smoky, spicy and rich flavour.
It is an Islay single malt whisky but as
with all Smokehead expressions the
specific Islay distillery from where it
originated from is not revealed but that
is part of the fun with Smokehead. It is
a limited edition release
Iain Weir, Smokehead Brand Director,
certainly makes it sound very enticing
for those who enjoy a big peated
sherried whisky, Iain commented: "We’re
proud of our Smokehead Sherry Bomb
expression. The whisky is more explosive
than an Armada cannonball. It’s not for
everyone, but if you’re after a bold,
peaty whisky that’s been blasted by rich
sherry casks, then this is the delicious
taste explosion you’ve been waiting
for."
Building on the launch of the new
Smokehead brand design, Sherry Bomb’s
packaging displays the brand’s iconic
skull - this time in fiery red - bold
typography and smoked, textured
backgrounds, with each Limited-Edition
black bottle presented in a Sherry Bomb
tin.
I haven't had the chance to taste this
myself so I cant comment on its quality
but the official tasting note below
certainly makes it sound appealing if
you enjoy a big peaty sherried dram.
Smokehead Sherry Bomb launched today
here in the UK and will roll out
globally in November, you will find it
available from specialist online whisky
retailers such as
The Whisky Exchange and

Smokehead Sherry Bomb Review

Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose: Thick peat lets you know you’ve got a serious
Islay single malt on your hands. Then a
fruitier, creamier feel – soft rich oak,
soothing custard and vanilla. But don’t
get comfortable - this is only the
beginning.
Taste:
Tie yourself down and wait for the hit
of oily black smoke, with a rich heavy
mouthcoating peaty feel. Then along
comes a sweet sticky flavour of
barbecued banana, (yes, really) tangy
sultanas and dried fruits. Told you it
was different.
Finish: The peat returns, just as you hoped/feared it would.
This time it’s brought some authentic
Spanish sherry oakiness with it,
pleasingly and disturbingly sweet. And
one last sharp salty reminder that
you’re not dealing with the ordinary
here.
