Douglas Laing
continue their 70th Anniversary year
celebrations with the launch of
Scallywag 10 Year Old Limited Edition.
 The
folks at independent Glasgow based
whisky specialists, Douglas Laing, have
been busy once again in the blending
lab, this time they have come up with
Scallywag 10 Year Old, a limited edition
blend of single malts from the Speyside
whisky region.
Scallywag 10 Year Old is a blend of 100%
sherry cask matured whiskies from
undisclosed Speyside region
distilleries, a combination of Oloroso
and Pedro Ximenez sherry cask matured
whiskies. Bottled at 46% ABV, DL tell me
it has notes of "rich cocoa, stewed
plums and sweet mocha".
Scallywag blended malt was first
launched back in 2013 and due to its
popularity DL has since added Cask
Strength and 13 Year Old variants to the
portfolio.
The launch of the Scallywag 10 Year Old
limited edition comes amidst Douglas
Laing's 70th year in the whisky
business, so given the Scallywag name of
the whisky and the eye catching Fox
Terrier on the packaging which was
inspired by the Laing family's love for
the Fox Terrier breed of dog it is
perhaps appropriate that they launch a
10 year old expression in their 70th
anniversary year, after all that would
be 70 years in dog years.
Scallywag 10 Year Old is a limited
release of 4500 bottles worldwide and as
we have come to expect from Douglas
Laing the new whisky has been bottled
without colouring or chill-filtration.
Scallywag 10 Year Old has a RRP of

Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose: Sweet with red fruits,
mocha and honeycomb.
Taste: Gentle spices develop to
rich cocoa, milky cereal and toasted
oak.
Finish: Lingers with cinnamon,
stewed plumbs and brown sugar.
