Rémy
Cointreau add Westland American Single
Malt Whiskey to its portfolio.

Rémy Cointreau has once again expanded
its single malt whisky portfolio with
the acquisition of the Seattle,
Washington State based Westland
Distillery company for an undisclosed
sum. Westland, which was established in 2011,
started out life as a medium sized
craft whisky distillery with a output
capacity of 60,000 litres per year,
after expansions and even a relocation
of the distillery the capacity of
Westland today is now 260,000 litres per
year although
they have only been running at 160,000
litres but I am sure they will soon be
running at full capacity now that Rémy
is behind Westland.

Today
Westland has a core range of 3 Westland
American Single Malt whiskies, Westland
American Oak launched in October 2013,
Westland Peated launched in October 2014
and Westland Sherry Wood launched in
December 2014. They also offer single
cask bottlings which can be a little
more difficult to get hold of outside of
the US.tremely excited
to be joining the Rémy Cointreau group.
Not only will we be maintaining and
expanding our vision for Westland and
the American single malt whiskey
category, but we will have the
assistance and guidance from a strategic
partner whose philosophy so perfectly
aligns with our own. With the assistance
of the Rémy Cointreau team, we’re very
much looking forward to sharing this
vision with more people around the world
for years to come."
The
acquisition of Westland follows Rémy's
recent acquisition of the 2009
established French whisky distiller
Domaine des Hautes Glaces which is the
first French single estate whisky which
means that every part of its whisky
production takes place at the distillery
including growing their own barley and
rye, malting, distillation, maturation
and bottling. The current Domaine des
Hautes Glaces whisky line up includes
two single malts, Les Moissons produced
from 100% malted barley and Vulson which
was produced from 100% malted rye.
The American Westland Distillery and
French Domaine des Hautes Glaces
acquisitions completes a trio of single
malt whisky producers for Rémy Cointreau
who already own Bruichladdich Distillery
the Scotch Islay single malt whisky
which they acquired back in 2012.
All three of the whisky brands,
Bruichladdich,
Domaine des Hautes Glaces and
Westland are available from
specialist online whisky retailer
