The Macallan
Edition No. 5, inspiration for its bold purple colour
comes from the casks
which were combined to create the
naturally coloured whisky.
The
Macallan has released the next
instalment in its popular Edition
series, The Macallan Edition No. 5, a
no-age statement single malt whisky
which has been matured in American oak
casks and has been bottled at 48.5% ABV.
The limited edition 100% naturally
coloured single malt is said to
celebrate The Macallan's spectrum of
natural colour and to help celebrate the
whiskies' natural colour and the release
of Edition No. 5, The Macallan has
partnered with the world renowned colour
experts at the Pantone Color Institute
to create The Macallan Edition Purple, a
uniquely bold and complex shade;
reflecting an enigmatic, multi-faceted
and intricate combination of colour.
The Macallan Edition No. 5 has been
created with a combination of American
oak casks and
it is from these casks which the Pantone Color Institute took inspiration for the
new purple colour for Edition No. 5:
- 1st Fill Bourbon
Barrels - Colour Pantone 7563 C
- 2nd Fill Refill Hogsheads/Butts
- Colour Pantone 7564 C
- 1st Fill Tevasa Hogsheads/Butts
- Colour Pantone 7569 C
- 1st Fill Vasyma Butts - Colour
Pantone 7565 C
The Macallan Edition No. 5 has a RRP
of £92 and will be available from the
Macallan distillery, travel retail and
and I would think specialist online whisky
retailers at some point, such as
The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop and
Master of Malt
