The Macallan
1824 Limited Edition for 2012 launched
in travel retail.

The
Macallan single malt whisky has revealed
the 2012 limited edition which will join
the travel-retail exclusive 1824
Collection in selected airports and duty
free outlets around the world.
The Macallan 1824 Collection Limited
Release MMXII, the third in this elite
series, consists of just 1,824 decanters
of a single malt whisky that has been
selected from some of the rarest casks
which have been maturing quietly in
traditional cool stone warehouses at The
Macallan Estate. Drawing on a store of
such individual casks, each year’s
bottling is subtly different.
Rich rosewood in colour, The Macallan
Limited Release MMXII (49.5% ABV) offers
sweet dried fruits, ginger and nutmeg,
soft wood spice on the nose. On the
palate it is initially spicy then
softening to release an abundance of
sultana and raisin with chocolate orange
in the background. Medium sweet
initially, it develops to a long finish.
This superb richness of character and
colour can be attributed in part to the
oak casks in which this single malt has
lain. The casks were hand crafted
specifically for The Macallan in Jerez,
southern Spain and seasoned for two
years with the finest dry Oloroso
sherry.
This super-premium addition to The
Macallan 1824 Collection is presented in
a beautiful decanter, which has been
hand-blown from the finest crystal to
achieve flawless clarity. Intricate
detailing hand-engraved by a master
craftsman gives the decanter an
exceptional finish.
The Macallan Limited Release MMXII
will be unveiled at the TFWA Asia
Pacific exhibition in Singapore on 15th
May.
