Label 5
launch Gold Heritage a new premium
expression of the popular blend.
Label
5 Scotch blended whisky is a brand some
of you may not be very familiar with but the
fact is it is one of the top 10 selling
Scotch blended whiskies in the world and
sells more than two and a half times as many
bottles as Glenfiddich sells single malt
whisky, which is a lot.
To be honest it is not a whisky brand which I
am very familiar with either given that it is
not generally available here in Scotland
so when the Label 5 owners contacted me
and asked me if I would like to sample
their new premium expression of the
Label 5 I thought why not.
Gold Heritage is the creation of Label 5
Master Blender, Graham Coull. What makes
Label 5 a premium blend is some of the
component single malts in the blend are
aged more than 20 years. Although Label
5 have told me there is some 20 year old
single malt in the new whisky it doesn't
carry an age statement and it has been
bottled at 40% ABV.
Graham Coull, Label 5 Master Blender
commented, "Label 5 Gold Heritage is a
personal achievement for me. Building on
the traditions of Label 5, I have
hand-selected whiskies from different
ages and casks which marry together to
produce a wonderfully balanced blend.
The result is an exceptionally smooth
whisky loaded with fruit, spice, warm
vanilla oak and subtle smoke, which
offers a unique taste experience."
The new Label 5 Gold Heritage is
presented in a attractive premium look
decanter style glass bottle.
This premium extension of the Label 5 range is
sure to attract the attention of single
malt as well as blended whisky drinkers
especially when they see the price tag,
US RRP is $40 where it will be launching
first followed by Australia.
See below for what I thought of the new
Label 5 Gold Heritage. |
Label 5 Gold Heritage Review

William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose: Pear notes stand out
amongst the creamy vanilla, some more
slightly sherried fruit notes in the
background.
Taste: Rich and smooth, the
pear from the nose is joined by some
orange, sugared raisins, creamy vanilla,
nutty, some lovely mild mature oak spice
peppers the mouth.
Finish: Slowly fading rich fruit
and mildly drying oak spice.
Comment:
Label 5 Master Blender Graham Coull has
put together a deliciously rich, fruity
smooth blend with a lovely delicate
touch of mature oak spice. This would
give some of the well known entry level 10 to 12
year old Speyside
single malts in this price range and
above a run for your money. A lovely
smooth easy dramming blend which is well
worth its asking price.
