Whisky Focus - Kilchoman Sanaig Review

Kilchoman Sanaig is a marriage of sherry and bourbon cask maturation and a new permanent addition to the Kilchoman core range.

The Kilchoman fans amongst you will probably know that a limited amount of Kilchoman Sanaig was released in 2015, the distillery has announced that it is now ready for global distribution and it now becomes the second continuous release from the Islay distillery.

The new permanent addition to the Kilchoman core range takes its name, Sanaig, from a small rocky inlet located north of the distillery on Islay. Kilchoman Sanaig has a predominantly Oloroso sherry cask influence. The distillery say that these aged Oloroso casks contribute a drastically transformed depth of colour and character compared to the mostly Bourbon cask matured Machir Bay.

Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder and Managing Director commented: "Sanaig represents another significant step forward for Kilchoman, it is important to be able to offer customers consistently available releases, until now Machir Bay has been performing that leading role, Sanaig will now share the spotlight."
