Kilchoman
release 5th limited edition of its
sherried malt Loch Gorm.
Kilchoman
Loch Gorm annual limited edition was first launched back in 2012, as fans of the small Islay farm distillery will know it is now the time of year for another instalment of the deliciously sherried, peaty Islay dram.
This 2016 5th release of the Kilchoman Loch Gorm limited edition
Single Malt Whisky is limited to just 17 casks worldwide, it was selected from a combination of fresh and refill Oloroso sherry butts over six years of age, making this the oldest release of Loch Gorm to date. Kilchoman say that the added maturation and combination of fresh and refill sherry casks provide a balance of powerful rich flavours, spicy notes and peat smoke.
This is the 5th limited edition of
Kilchoman Loch Gorm Single Malt to be
released. The first, which I reviewed
HERE
and described as a cracking young peaty
sherried Islay whisky and I wasn't the
only one to think so as it was awarded
the prestigious 2013 IWSC Gold.
The updated packaging for the 2016 release features stunning views over Loch Gorm, just a short distance from the distillery gates.
Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder and Managing Director; “The whole range is developing year on year and it is exciting to release the next evolution of Loch Gorm. Maturation exclusively in Oloroso sherry butts has given this release a beautiful balance of big, rich sherry flavours, smoke and softer fruits typical of Kilchoman.”
Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2016 was
bottled at 46% ABV and from today will be available in markets around the world and will soon be
available from
The Whisky Exchange, priced
around £65.
