Jura Whisky 'Penny' Treasure Hunt in UK Cities

6th November 2012
Jura whisky launches 'Penny' Treasure Hunt in UK cities.

Jura Whisky has today launched a penny treasure hunt in four cities across the UK, with forty bottles of Jura Superstition to be given away to the forty lucky finders.

Each week for four weeks, Jura Whisky will be hiding ten pennies in one city, visiting a different city each week. Starting today in Edinburgh, the treasure hunt will visit London next week (week commencing 12th November), followed by Manchester (week commencing 19th November) and finishing in Glasgow (week commencing 26th November)

Inspired by the ancient superstition…See a penny, pick it up, and all day long you’ll have good luck, the good luck in this instance is one bottle of Jura Superstition for every penny found (provided the finder can provide proof of age).

Some of the pennies will be hidden around famous landmarks, others in less conspicuous places! To help treasure hunters find the booty, Jura will be leading its Twitter followers to the pennies by Tweeting clues using the hashtag #jurapennies. With each penny comes a small set of instructions on how to claim your good fortune.

The real-life treasure hunt has been launched in support of Jura Whisky’s Win a Million Pennies competition - the single malt whisky brand’s biggest ever online competition, providing its legion of honorary Diurachs across the UK with the chance to win £10,000.

To be in with a chance of winning this incredible cash prize, entrants must visit the Jura Whisky website www.isleofjura.com and answer a simple question. Thirteen other entrants will also be blessed with some Jura good fortune by winning a bottle of the island’s award-winning Superstition whisky. The competition closes on 23 December. All correct entries will be entered into a prize draw, with the lucky winner being drawn after 23 December. All entrants must be based in the UK.

Jura Distillery Manager, Willie Cochrane commented: "The Isle of Jura, and its tight-knit community of less than 200 Diurachs, are well known for their superstitions and tales of good fortune. So what better way to celebrate this eccentricity than sharing some of this good fortune with our own whisky fans across the UK? With forty bottles of Superstition up for grabs across four cities, there’s a lot of luck to be had. In fact, for one of our honorary Diurachs, this Christmas promises to be very lucky indeed!"
