Jura releases
another batch of Jura Brooklyn, now
available throughout the US.
 Everyone
knows you aren't allowed to make scotch
whisky outside of Scotland, which is all
well and good if you care to follow
rules but it seems that the folks at
Jura don't always follow these rules.
Back in 2013 Jura picked a
similarly convention-defying island, a
little place called Brooklyn, you may
have heard of it.
Jura sent
their rogue of a master distiller Mr.
Willie Tait to Brooklyn with one goal to
create a world-class single malt scotch
whisky made by and for the people of
Kings County.
Willie left Brooklyn with six cask
samples and returned to Jura with an inspired
blend hand-selected by some of the
borough's most revered inhabitants and
establishments.
2,000 bottles of Jura Brooklyn the result of Willie Tait's visit was launched exclusively in
New York at
the end of June this year, the whisky quickly
gained the attention and envy of
retailers and whisky drinkers across the
whole of the
US. Now the nation wants a taste of Jura
Brooklyn and to meet demand Jura has now
produced more of the Brooklyn batch
which is now available from selected retailers
throughout the US.
Willie Tait commented, "We are proud to
have executed a project that has never
been attempted before in the Scotch
whisky world. We’ve developed a totally
new whisky liquid in collaboration with
artisans, craftsman and pioneers in the
place where food and drink trends are
born— Brooklyn. And we can’t wait to see
the rest of America’s reaction to our
whisky. It’s a true blend of two places
both known for their uniqueness."
Jura Brooklyn has been aged up to 16
years in American White Oak Bourbon,
Amoroso Sherry and Pinot Noir casks,
bottled at 42% ABV it
boasts notes of berries, bonfire smoke,
figs, roasted coffee beans, honey and
currants can be tasted throughout. Jura
Brooklyn retails for a suggested price
of $79.99 and is currently available at
select retailers throughout the US as well as
online at Caskers.com
