Highland Park
Thor - Valhalla Collection
Thursday,
the perfect day of the week to tell you
about the new Highland Park Thor
(Thursday is named after Thor - "Thor’s
day") which is the first release in the
new Highland Park Valhalla Collection
and like its namesake, shares many of
the legendary Norse god’s
larger-than-life characteristics.
The most renowned of all the Norse gods,
Thor was the protector of Asgard and was
feared by his enemies and other gods
alike. His powerful hammer, Mjolnir,
which they have depicted on the bottle,
was said to create a thunderous and
terrifying sound when used in battle;
legend has it that Thor’s handiwork can
be witnessed first hand on Orkney.
Distilled where sea turns to ocean,
Highland Park Thor is a meeting point of
nature’s forces, resulting in a perfect
marriage of classic fragrant Highland
Park smoke, balanced with a beguiling
inner complexity and natural strength.
Aged for 16 years and bottled at 52.1%
abv, Thor is limited to 23,000 bottles
worldwide.
Thor will be available from whisky
specialist shops in the UK from Monday
30th January for around £120. It will
rolled out across the globe in the
coming weeks and months.

Highland Park Thor Tasting Notes
|
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Appearance:
Rich amber, with an iron ore glow.
Nose: Concentrated and forceful, with an explosion of
aromatic smoke, pungent fresh ginger,
antique copper, stewed plums, and golden
syrup. With water, earthy notes emerge,
like a garden after a heavy rain shower.
Palate:
Thor's high strength grabs the palate
and refuses to let go. Initially dry,
with fiery gingerbread then vanilla,
blackberries, fresh mango, peach and
hints of cinnamon. As its big flavours
swirl around the mouth, some softer,
sweeter notes develop, giving Thor and
unexpected layer of complexity and
depth.
Finish: The finish thunders on, leaving behind lingering
notes of sweet vanilla and an intense
spiciness.

Possible Highland Park Valhalla
Collection Releases
The Highland Park Valhalla Collection
will be a series of four limited release
bottlings.
So what other three Norse God’s are possible
candidates to find there way into
Highland Park legend? My guess is to
watch out for the following future
releases in the Highland Park Valhalla
Collection:
- Highland Park Odin
Leader of
the gods and father of Thor. The old
English name for Odin is Woden and
this is where we get the name
Wednesday, from Woden's Day. We
wouldn't have known what day it is
if it hadn't been for the Norse
gods.
- Highland Park Freya
Goddess of fertility. If this is
released I am not sure it will do
anything for your fertility but taken in
moderation it could work well as an
aphrodisiac, lol.
- Highland Park
Loki
The son of two giants. A shape
shifter who appears in the form of a
salmon, a mare, a seal and a fly,
Loki is traditionally a troublemaker
of the highest order. Loki could be
potentially the name for a very
different complex Highland Park.
- Highland Park
Tyr
God of combat, glory and honour. A
carving of Tyr can be found on Hadrian’s
Wall, which marked the border between
England and Scotland during the Roman
rule. Tuesday is named after Tyr (Tiw’s
day). Could be a powerful expression
packed with layers of Highland Park
smoke.
- Highland Park Baldr
No Baldr is not the god of receding
hair lines. He is one of Odin’s
sons, Baldr is the god of innocence,
purity, and joy. Of course if you
are getting a little thin on top you
could try rubbing some in but
probably best drinking it besides
its well known that whisky will only
put hair on your chest not your
head.
