Highland Park
FIRE Edition 15 year old a refill Port
wine cask matured expression.
 I
am sure the Highland Park fans amongst
you have been anticipating this release
but were probably not expecting to see
it until early 2017, well I am pleased
to tell you that the Highland Park FIRE
Edition, the 2nd release in a two part
limited edition mini series of whiskies
from the Orkney distillery has arrived
and just in time for Christmas if you
are looking to put something special in
your stocking.
The Highland Park Fire Edition follows
the Highland Park ICE Edition 17 Year
Old which was released back in March
this year, which I have noticed has not
yet sold out at specialist retailers
such as
The Whisky Exchange, so you
still have the chance to buy and compare
the 2 whiskies in this series.
Like many Highland Park
releases the marketing behind this two
part limited edition mini series
celebrates the Viking roots of the
brand’s Orkney Island home, where the
Norse influence and culture were woven
for hundreds of years before Highland
Park single malt whisky was created.
Highland Park FIRE Edition has been
matured exclusively in refill Port wine
seasoned casks, it is naturally coloured
and bottled at 45.2% ABV. I haven't had
the chance to taste it but a mix of
Highland Park's unique Orkney smoke and
port wine does sound a very tempting
mix, the
distillery describe it as having intense
aromas of ruby red fruits, light smoke
and a long, lingering finish. However
they do state that it is still, unmistakably, Highland Park.
Presented in a crimson red
coloured glass bottle, the bottle is encased in
a distinctive black volcano looking
wooden cradle with accompanying black
wooden stopper. A booklet which
accompanies the bottle, recounts the
story of the realm of the Fire Giants
and their epic battle against the Gods
to rule the world.
The Highland Park FIRE Edition is a
special release of 28,000 bottles
worldwide, it has an RRP of £190 and it will
be available from specialist online
