Rudd release The Glenrothes Extraordinary Cask 1968 #13507

Bros & Rudd owners of The Glenrothes
single malt whisky have announced the
release of The Glenrothes Extraordinary
Cask 1968 Cask No. 13507 the third
edition in its rare Extraordinary Cask
Collection series.
The rare
whisky has once again been hand selected
by The Glenrothes brands heritage
director, Ronnie Cox. Ronnie assessed
and identified a small number of casks
which he deemed worthy to be included in
The Glenrothes Extraordinary Cask
Collection series, on this occasion he
has chosen a single re-fill hogshead
Cask No. 13507 which was laid down on
November 19th 1968. The cask yielded
only 145 bottles which have been bottled
at 41.9% ABV.
The Glenrothes
describes its taste like "rose petals
and face cream, tinned peaches, apricots
in syrup, mirabelles
in honey. Beeswax polish and candles".
They promise a "text-book Glenrothes"
with "creamy texture, exemplary
integration; mascarpone with orange
blossom, very lively with white pepper
and Turkish delight."
The
Glenrothes Extraordinary Cask 1968 will
initially be available exclusively at
DFS at Singapore Changi Airport for this
month then it willed be rolled out in
selected specialist whisky outlets
across South-East Asia, Europe and North
America.
The rare Glenrothes
Extraordinary Cask 1968 whisky, like the
first two whiskies in the series, the
single cask 1970 and single cask 1970 is
presented in exquisite crystal decanter
which has been created by a master
craftsman at Atlantis Crystal in
Alcobaca, Portugal. It also a hand made
polished brass plaque supplied by
Charles Stott, of the Edinburgh-based
Scottish Silversmiths, the plaque is
engraved with the year of distillation
and the bottle number. The hand engraved
brass collar and stopper comes from the
wood of the very cask no. 13507 in which
the whisky matured.
The
Glenrothes Extraordinary Cask 1968 has a
price tag around £5,500 and should be
available from the specialist whisky
shop
