Glen Moray whisky sales continue to increase under La Martiniquaise and recent figures place Glen Moray Classic as the 6th best selling single malt in the UK.

The Glen Moray Distillery began producing Scotch Single Malt Whisky in Elgin, the capital of Speyside, Scotland’s most famous whisky region, in 1897. For many years it was owned and run by MacDonald & Muir Limited who changed their name in 1996 to a name you may be more familiar with, Glenmorangie plc.
In 2004 Louis Vuittton Moet Hennessy bought Glenmorangie plc and with it Glen Moray, then in 2008 the distillery was acquired by French company La Martiniquaise and since then it has undergone an incredible transformation, going from being a relatively unknown distillery to one of the best selling single malts in the UK.
Glen Moray Single Malt Scotch Whisky has shown a steady growth of 50% in international sales over the last four years with a positive upward trend in UK growth of +14% year on year sales according to Nielsen Scantrack.
Recently published Nielsen figures put Glen Moray Classic as the 6th best selling single malt in the UK and one of the Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Spirits for 2015. Glen Moray have recently won a Gold Medal for the Elgin Classic at the ISC Awards, proving that the brand offers excellent quality at an excellent price.
David Borthwick, UK Sales Director for Glen Turner, comments "We are delighted that the steady growth of sales figures for Glen Moray continue to prove that we are offering whisky drinkers a range of single malt whiskies that are of a high quality and at a winning price".
The Glen Moray distillery in Speyside is currently undergoing expansion work which will see the production capacity doubled to 6.5 million litres of alcohol per year which should place the distillery in the top 10 for annual Scotch whisky output. Additional output requires additional maturation warehouses, therefore additional maturation warehouses will be built more than doubling the storage capacity from 90,000 barrels to 250,000 barrels.
The key to La Martiniquaise success at Glen Moray is probably due to a number of things, of course the increasing worldwide popularity of Scotch whisky, but also their belief in the single malt the Glen Moray distillery produces, and also there innovative approach to production and maturation. They introduced heavily peated production (50 ppm) in 2009, producing 300,000 litres per year.
This July the new
Glen Moray Sherry Cask Finish joins the distillery's Classic Range which already includes Glen Moray Classic, Port Cask Finish (added 2014) and Peated (added 2015) all of which offer whisky drinkers great quality single malt whisky at a very drinkable price.
