Glenmorangie Dornoch

12th November 2014
Glenmorangie Dornoch a limited edition travel retail exclusive expression.

Dust off your passport if you want to get hold of this one as Glenmorangie has announced the release of Glenmorangie Dornoch a new limited edition bottling which will be available exclusively in travel retail from Wednesday 26th November.

This unique expression was inspired by the Distillery’s peaceful setting on the banks of the Dornoch Firth in the Scottish Highlands. To protect and preserve the environmental importance of this precious waterway Glenmorangie has partnered with the Marine Conservation Society to help raise money for the society. A donation from the sale of each bottle of Glenmorangie Dornoch will be made to the Marine Conservation Society to help sustain and protect this beautiful estuary beside the Distillery for future generations, as well as helping to protect Scottish and UK seas more widely.

Glenmorangie Dornoch is a unique union of a classic Glenmorangie spirit matured in ex-bourbon American white oak which has been united with a lightly peated Glenmorangie spirit that has been extra matured in ex-Amontillado sherry casks.

Already awarded a Gold Medal in The Spirits Business Travel Retail Awards the Glenmorangie Dornoch was bottled at 43% ABV, chill filtered, it will be available exclusively in World Duty Free Group’s UK airport stores (World of Whiskies) from 26th November at an RRP of £59.99 and it will be available in European travel retail outlets from February 2015 at an RRP of £69.00.

Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, commented: "Glenmorangie Dornoch unites ex-bourbon American white oak barrels reflecting the distinctive vanilla and citrus Glenmorangie house style with a lightly peated Glenmorangie spirit that has been extra matured in ex-Amontillado sherry casks. The swirling under-current of peat adds an unexpected dimension of distant, smoky apples, complemented by vibrant, sweet nutty flavours layered upon the rich, warm toffee and dried fruits. These balance to create a single malt whisky that reflects the beautiful setting in which Glenmorangie is crafted."

Calum Duncan from the Marine Conservation Society said: “This partnership reflects Glenmorangie’s commitment to helping to preserve the natural heritage around the distillery for future generations. We are thrilled to be working with them to raise awareness of the importance of our seas, shores and wildlife. In particular, the Dornoch Firth is a waterway of outstanding natural beauty and an internationally important special area of conservation.”

David White, Marketing and Communication Director at Glenmorangie, commented: “We are delighted to offer this new expression exclusively to travel retail and to be supporting the Marine Conservation Society. With Glenmorangie Dornoch we are providing whisky connoisseurs with a new Glenmorangie expression and at the same time helping to protect the environment around our Highland home on the shores of the Dornoch Firth.”
