Glenmorangie
175th Anniversary 16 year old single
cask distillery exclusive bottling.
The
Glenmorangie distillery is marking its
175th anniversary with the release of a
16 year old single cask whisky which
will only be available to those of you
who make the pilgrimage to the
Distillery in Tain.
Distilled and filled to cask on the 13th
September 2001, it was matured in a
first-fill American white oak ex-Bourbon
cask, and was bottled on the 29th March
2018. The cask produced just 191 which
have been bottled without chill
filtration at a cask strength of 53.1%
ABV. Each bottle of the 175th
anniversary bottling is individually
numbered.
As you would expect from a first-fill
ex-Bourbon cask matured whisky,
Glenmorangie tell me that it has drew
the creamy vanilla notes and oaky
smoothness from the cask for which
Glenmorangie is renowned.
Dr Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie’s Director
of Distilling, Whisky Creation & Whisky
Stocks said: "This single-cask bottling
is the perfect way for us to mark such a
seminal year in the Distillery’s
history. Its aromas of vanilla and
coconut and richly balanced tastes of
tropical fruits, spice and oak, offer a
unique insight into Glenmorangie’s
quintessential style. I hope those lucky
enough to own a bottle will enjoy
celebrating this landmark anniversary."
As I said this is a distillery exclusive
bottling, it has a price tag of £650 per
bottle and is only available to those of
you visiting the distillery in Tain and
with only 191 bottles of this
Glenmorangie 175th Anniversary single
cask available, even at this price, I
wouldn't think it will be available for
long, so if you fancy getting your hands
on a bottle you had better make your way
to the Glenmorangie distillery.
If you have no plans to visit the
distillery you will also find the
current Glenmorangie whisky range available
from specialist online whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange
and

Malt

Glenmorangie 175th Anniversary Bottling Review
|
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose: A fresh, floral bouquet, with subtle hints of coconut
and vanilla followed by an herbal top
note. A splash of water releases the
distinctive aroma of beeswax, alongside
honey and citrus.
Taste: Creamy, luscious and rich, the depth of citrus and
tropical fruits (peach, mango and
pineapple) is topped by vanilla custard
and mint garnish. Gentle spiciness of
almond, coconut, ginger and oak
contrasts elegantly with the fruitiness.
Finish: A lingering, mouth coating finish with hints of
tropical fruit and melting honey
sweetness.
