Glengoyne
release the 6th batch of their popular
big sherried cask strength Teapot Dram.
Its
that time of year once again, Glengoyne
has just announced the release of the
Glengoyne Teapot Dram Batch No. 6, the
sixth release in this highly rated and
very popular series of big sherried cask strength drams from
the Highland distillery.
To date the Glengoyne Teapot Dram has been an outstanding limited
edition release, so fingers crossed this
latest release will be of the same high quality.
Matured in first fill Oloroso sherry oak
casks, Glengoyne tell me that Batch 6
has a natural, rich amber hue and notes
of cinnamon, marzipan and cloves.
Bottled un-chill filtered at a cask
strength of 59.3% ABV, there will only
be 2772
bottles of this big sherried dram available and as always the
Teapot Dram will only be available from the
Glengoyne distillery which is located
just 14 miles north of Glasgow not far
from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs or if
you have no plans to visit the
distillery you can buy a bottle from the
Glengoyne web site, priced £90.
As I am sure those of you who have
already had the pleasure of previous
releases will know there is a great
story behind how the Glengoyne Teapot
Dram came about, it was created in
tribute to an old Glengoyne Distillery
tradition which stood until the 1970s,
which saw the distillery dram the
workers every day. The Glengoyne
distillery workers
would be given three fingers of whisky,
three times each day. Most distilleries
gave their teams new make spirit, but
not Glengoyne. At Glengoyne, the finest
whisky from first fill Oloroso sherry
casks was chosen for the distillery
workers’ drams. The less seasoned stillmen would, to save face, discreetly
pour some of their untouched drams into
a copper teapot which sat on the canteen
windowsill, ready for their older
colleagues.
As I said above the Glengoyne Teapot
Dram Batch No. 6 will only be available
direct from the distillery shop or via
the Glengoyne web site, you will also
find the current Glengoyne whisky range
as well as a few limited releases available from specialist online whisky
retailers such as
The Whisky Exchange,
Amazon and
Master of Malt |
