Ian
Macleod Distillers Ltd has launched a
new travel retail exclusive bottling.
Glengoyne Distiller’s Gold is a 15 Year
Old Glengoyne Highland Single Malt
dedicated to the distillery’s first
manager, Cochran Cartwright. The label
and tube portray the story of a man
dedicated to the pursuit of perfection
in the golden spirit produced under his
watch, a tradition of dedication to
quality which has been upheld throughout
the generations.
It is believed that Cochran continues to
watch over the distillery and many
evening dinner guests have reported
seeing his ghost, although usually after
some product sampling! So often has
Cochran been spotted, however, that it
is now tradition for guests to finish
their evening with a toast to the spirit
of Glengoyne, now embodied in this
golden malt.
Andy Lane, Ian Macleod’s Director of
Travel Retail commented: "The addition
of Distiller’s Gold as a travel retail
exclusive offers customers another
strand to the magical Glengoyne story.
"Ian Macleod has had another fantastic
year in the travel retail market
including entry to the top 10 of Scotch
Malt Whisky suppliers. We are constantly
striving to grow and improve our
offering in this important market and
look forward to meeting buyers at TFWA
to discuss our range."
In spring 2011 an independent review of
travel retail sales listed family-owned
Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd as one of the
top ten Scotch Malt Whisky suppliers for
the first time in the company’s history.
Analysing sales from a total of 155
airport, airline and ferry websites, the
respected Air4casts’ March sales review
also highlighted Glengoyne Single
Highland Malt as one of the top ten
Scotch Malt brands, out of the 61
identified as part of its monthly sales
review.
Established in 1933, Ian Macleod
Distillers is one of the largest and
most widely respected independent family
companies within the spirits industry.
The award winning Ian Macleod portfolio,
which includes Glengoyne, King Robert
II, Langs and Smokehead, as well as gin,
rum, and vodka, currently has combined
total sales of more than one million
cases, with 85% being exported to over
65 markets worldwide.
