Glenfiddich
Spirit of A Nation in support of the
Walking With The Wounded charity.
We are all urged to get behind Team
Glenfiddich as our nation’s wounded
prepare for a ground-breaking Antarctic
race to raise funds for charity.
As part of their continued support
for the military charity Walking With
The Wounded, Glenfiddich will
be taking a very special cask of
their whisky across the UK for the Spirit of a Nation tour, giving whisky enthusiasts and supporters of Walking With The Wounded the rare opportunity to be a part of Glenfiddich history.
This
special cask which contains an exclusive
Glenfiddich 29 Year Old Single Malt Whisky expression
which will be bottled as part of
Glenfiddich's support for the Walking With The Wounded
charity will be named "Glenfiddich Spirit of a Nation"
and I have no doubt that this rare and exclusive whisky
will be highly sought after by whisky
collectors and connoisseurs.
Throughout 2013, the UK’s most prestigious Scotch whisky brand will continue to honour William Grant’s pioneering spirit by supporting Team Glenfiddich, the team flying the flag for Britain in the Walking With The Wounded South Pole Allied Challenge. This incredible project will see teams of wounded servicemen and women from the UK, alongside their team-mate and the expedition’s Royal Patron, Prince Harry, take on their American and Commonwealth counterparts in a race across Antarctica.
On Thursday 30th May 2013 the barrel was unveiled at the Walking With The Wounded annual fundraising ball, where it was signed by supporters of the charity including The Stereophonics, Ellie Goulding, TV’s Ben Fogle and Olympian Matthew Pinsent, as well as the members of Team Glenfiddich.
"The Spirit of a Nation tour gives people around the UK the chance to personally wish the inspirational members of Team Glenfiddich well, ahead of their upcoming South Pole expedition. We would love for supporters to join us, meet the team and sign the limited edition cask." - Sarah Harding, Glenfiddich Senior Brand Manager
The Spirit of a Nation tour will travel to four locations around Britain, offering the opportunity for the whole of the United Kingdom to support the expedition by signing a message of good luck on the cask. At each destination it will be met by a member of Team Glenfiddich and a Glenfiddich ambassador who will jointly host a free evening open to everyone. The unique events will combine an inspirational talk by a wounded serviceman or woman with an intimate whisky tasting, suitable for experts and beginners alike.
After its UK tour, the signed cask will
return to the Glenfiddich distillery in
the Scottish Highlands, where its
contents will be bottled. Glenfiddich
will officially release the limited
edition Spirit of a Nation expression in
the UK in time for Christmas 2013. The
first two bottles from the cask will be
taken to the South Pole by Team
Glenfiddich; one will be used to toast
the successful expedition as the team
reaches the Pole. The second will be
photographed with and signed by the
expedition party and later auctioned to
raise funds for Walking With The
Wounded.
