The
GlenDronach release Batch 7 of its
popular Cask Strength series.
The
GlenDronach distillery has just
announced the release of The GlenDronach
Cask Strength Batch 7. As always it has
been bottled straight from the cask, non
chill-filtered, natural in colour and as
its name tell you, at cask strength
which in the case of batch 7 is
57.9% ABV.
Just like the previous
releases in this now very popular Cask
Strength series it has been matured in a
combination of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez
sherry casks which have been
selected and brought together by The
GlenDronach Master Blender Rachel Barrie
before bottling at cask strength.
Rachel commented on this latest Cask
Strength release, saying: "The
GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 7 is
rich in the rewards of slow, mellow and
complex sherry cask maturation in the
earthen-floored dunnage warehouses at
GlenDronach; the rewards being a sublime
aroma, rounded taste, full body and
long-lasting finish. With a cask
selection spanning Summer, Autumn and
Winter distillation at GlenDronach, the
resulting marriage delivers a malt with
a strong heart, complex taste and smooth
mellow maturity, belying it’s 57.9% cask
strength.
"The GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 7
continues our tradition of marrying the
finest Spanish oak sherry casks with our
robust Highland malt. In this
expression, maturation in Oloroso casks
has developed a smooth, nutty and
rounded character, with notes of
Highland toffee, walnut cream, sultana
bread and figs. Maturation in Pedro
Ximénez casks has contributed plum,
cherry and chocolate. Batch 7 offers a
unique opportunity to get to know the
richly sherried yet smooth and mellow
side of GlenDronach cask maturation at
natural cask strength.”
One
difference keen eyed GlenDronach whisky
fans will notice about Batch 7 is that
it is presented in a new look green tube
and with a green bottle label, previous
batches have been brown, but it is still
the same Cask Strength combination of
Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry cask
matured whisky.

GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 7 Review

William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Gentle vanilla toffee, sweet raisins,
orange infused milk chocolate.
Taste:
Deliciously juicy, orange citrus, sweet
honey coated raisins and sultanas, a
little vanilla and some lovely warming
oak spice.
Finish:
The juicy sherried fruit fades leaving
the lovely lingering zesty orange tinged
vibrant oak spice and a touch of
liquorice.
Comment:
Another outstanding quality sherried
Cask Strength batch from the
GlenDronach. At around £60 a bottle and
given its quality it really is difficult
to over look this when you compare it to
other cask strength sherried whiskies.
