Douglas
Laing's Premier Barrel range gets a new
look which is débuting with a
Bunnahabhain 10, Dailuaine 10, Glen
Garioch 8 and Craigellachie 10 Year Old.

Douglas Laing today unveiled a new
look for it Premier Barrel Single Cask
Single Malt Scotch Whisky range.
The range will still be presented in the
now familiar ceramic decanter but the
labelling has had a makeover. The
decanter now has a new look hand-drawn
label on parchment paper which still
features rather cleverly thought up and
entertaining eccentric yet romantic
rhyming tasting notes. In addition,
regional colour differentiation is a key
theme of the pack, as the Scottish
region in which the Whiskies are
distilled has a significant impact on
the character of the spirit, and so, the
label colourways should be telling as to
what to expect from the particular
bottling.
The label colouring is richer and bolder
than it was previously and the decanter
is still contained a wooden gift box,
now reminiscent of an ancient book,
Douglas Laing tell me that the updated
packaging aims to modernise Premier
Barrel whilst honouring its traditional
and artisanal charm.
The Premier Barrel originally launched
back in 2008, at the time I recall
picking up a decanter of Premier Barrel
Caol Ila 7 year old which was exclusive
to Robbie's Drams in Ayr and remember
being impressed by the quality young
Coal Ila whisky and the very creative
packaging. Today the Premier Barrel range
is now part of Douglas Laing’s
"Exceptional Single Casks" – a
collection of Single Cask Single Malt
and Single Grain Whiskies from a vast
range of Scotland’s Distilleries under
the brands of Provenance, Old Particular
and Xtra Old Particular.
Premier Barrel will offer a new and
unique proposition within the
Exceptional Single Cask range with its
distinctly different brand personality
and packaging. All bottled at 46% ABV
and as you would expect from Douglas
Laing, non chill-filtered and naturally
coloured. The new look Premier Barrel
packaging is débuting with four new
single cask, single malt whiskies:
- Craigellachie 10 Year Old – RSP
£65
- Glen Garioch 8 Year Old – RSP
£60
- Dailuaine 10 Year Old 100%
sherry matured – RSP £62
- Bunnahabhain 10 Year Old – RSP
£70
The new look
Douglas Laing Premier Barrel range will
