Benromach
unveil Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood
Finish 2010 edition.
The
Benromach Distillery has just unveiled
the Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux
Wood Finish 2010 the latest limited
release addition to their popular series
of vintage wood finish whiskies.
The Benromach Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood
Finish 2010 is said to balance Benromach’s
signature Speyside smokiness with rich
red wine undertones.
Distilled in 2010 and initially matured
in First Fill Bourbon barrels in the
distillery’s traditional dunnage
warehouses in Forres, Speyside, it was
then then finished for just over two
years in Château Cissac wine casks,
hand-selected from the French wine
region of Haut-Médoc near Bordeaux and
bottled at in 2018 at 45% ABV.
Described as, "dark gold in colour, with
the influence of the wine casks
immediately apparent on the nose. On
tasting, the initial pepper is followed
by sweet vanilla, creamy milk
chocolates, hints of red wine tannins
and peat smoke. Deeper hints of bonre
embers are complemented by Brazil nuts
and gorgeous cocoa flavours".
Keith Cruickshank, Benromach Distillery
manager, said: "Our latest Wood Finish
is a welcome addition to our ‘Contrasts’
range of single malt Scotch whiskies.
"All our Wood Finishes, including our
Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2009
which we launched last year, have been
really well received by whisky lovers
around the world.
"I’m confident that Benromach Château
Cissac Bordeaux Wood Finish 2010, with
its unique and appealing
characteristics, will be appreciated by
new and existing Benromach enthusiasts.
At our distillery in Forres, we’ve
always been unafraid to innovate, and we
hope those who enjoy our flagship
Benromach 10 Years Old will enjoy
exploring our different finishes."
Notably the official tasting note below
for the new Château Cissac Bordeaux Wood
Finish 2010 expression is 100%
identical, word for word to the official
tasting note for last years 2009
release, I would expect it to be very
similar but 100% the same? A little
laziness in the marketing I think but I
trust if you enjoyed last years release
you wont be disappointed in the new 2010
offering.
The Benromach Chateau Cissac Wood Finish
2010, a limited release of 7,789 bottles
has a RRP of £39.75 and will be available from
specialist online whisky shops such
as
The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop and
Master of Malt. Prices may
vary in international markets because of
duty and import taxes.

Benromach Chateau Cissac Wood Finish
2010 Review
|
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose: The fabulous influence of
the Château Cissac casks will be
immediately apparent, with melon notes,
red apples, delicate and zesty orange
peel and dark chocolate. There’s also an
underlying floral note and a delightful
charred oak edge... the Benromach
signature.
Taste: Slightly peppery on the
palate with sweet vanilla, creamy milk
chocolate... there’s even refreshing
lemon and limeade flavours with a nod
and a wink towards the effervescent.
Satisfying hints of red wine tannins
emerge, complementing a lingering peat
smoke.
