Benromach
launch new Chateau Cissac wine cask
finish 2009 vintage limited edition whisky.
The
folks at Benromach have just unveiled
the latest addition to their popular
series of vintage wood finish whiskies,
this time they have announced the launch
of a limited edition Benromach Chateau
Cissac Wood Finish 2009 vintage.
Matured in First Fill Bourbon casks then
finished for 25 months in first fill
Chateau Cissac wine casks from the
distinguished French wine region of
Haut-Médoc near Bordeaux.
The new Chateau Cissac Wood Finish wood
finish was
distilled in 2009 and bottled at 45% ABV,
it follows the popular Chateau Cissac
Wood Finish 2006 vintage released back
in 2014 so I am sure those of you who
enjoyed that will be pleased to see
another release which has been finished
in Chateau Cissac wine casks, notably
this 2009 vintage release has been
finished for 5 months longer than the
2006 vintage was so perhaps it may offer
a deeper wine influence.
Benromach describe the Chateau Cissac
Wood Finish 2009 as rich and fruity,
with zingy limeade, wine tannin hints,
peppery vanilla notes and a light wisp
of bonfire embers.
Benromach Distillery Manager Keith
Cruickshank commented on the new whisky,
saying: "Our latest Wood Finish
expression is a welcome addition to our
growing family of Speyside single malt
whiskies. Our previous wood finish
expressions, including Benromach
Sassicaia and Benromach Hermitage, have
proved to be very popular and we are
looking forward to hearing what whisky
lovers think of this Chateau Cissac. It
certainly has plenty of character so I’m
sure this new single malt will be
appreciated by new and existing
Benromach fans around the world.
“Those who enjoy our flagship 10 Years
Old will enjoy the chance to experience
Benromach in a different way. The
maturation in wine casks from the
distinguished region creates a distinct
flavour in the whisky and allows a truly
unique character to develop.”
The Benromach Chateau Cissac Wood Finish
2009, a limited release of 4,200 bottles
has a RRP of £39.75 and will be available from
specialist online whisky shops such as

Benromach Chateau Cissac Wood Finish 2009 Review
|
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Nose: The fabulous influence of
the Château Cissac casks will be
immediately apparent, with melon notes,
red apples, delicate and zesty orange
peel and dark chocolate. There’s also an
underlying floral note and a delightful
charred oak edge; the Benromach
signature.
Taste: Slightly peppery on the
palate with sweet vanilla, creamy milk
chocolate and there’s even refreshing
lemon and limeade flavours with a nod
and a wink towards the effervescent.
Satisfying hints of red wine tannins
emerge, complementing a lingering peat
smoke.
