BenRiach
release Temporis, a peated 21 year old
expression which has BenRiach's
signature sweet, fruit-laden style.
BenRiach
has announced the release of a peaty new
addition to its range, The BenRiach
Temporis 21 Year Old Peated.
Similar to the existing unpeated
BenRiach 21 Year Old, which was only
just released in December last year, the
new BenRiach Temporis 21 year old
is an eclectic mix of four casks. In the
case of the Temporis, which incidentally
means "time" in Latin, the four cask
types are Bourbon barrels, virgin oak,
Pedro Ximenez sherry and Oloroso sherry
casks.
Given the choice of casks and the fact
that the Temporis is a peated whisky, the
new expression which is the creative
work of BenRiach Master Blender Rachel
Barrie is sure to extend BenRiach's
reputation for producing rich and
interesting single malts and it should
make a very interesting head to head
comparison with the existing unpeated
BenRiach 21 year old.
Announcing the release of BenRiach
Temporis 21 Year Old Peated, Master
Blender Rachel Barrie, said: "This four
cask matured and peated combination
produces a superbly balanced malt,
retaining BenRiach’s signature sweet,
fruit-laden style and peated tradition.
Its smooth, creamy peat flavour builds
to uncover roasted orchard fruits and
eucalyptus, then tropical pineapple and
star anise appear, lingering into a
sweet and smoky finish."
The BenRiach Temporis 21 Year Old Peated
has been bottled at 46% ABV, non
chill-filtered, natural in colour it
will be available worldwide with a RRP
of £135. You will find it available
from specialist
online whisky shops such as

BenRiach Temporis 21 Year Old Review
|
William
Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Mild candied pear and a little sweet
raisins, vanilla laced with some lovely
sweet peat and gentle oak spice.
Taste:
Sweet creamy honey and vanilla laced
with delicious peat smoke are followed
by tangy zesty tropical fruits and a
hint of liquorice tinged treacle toffee.
Finish:
The fruit fades first, bittering out
leaving a touch of liquorice and mildly
drying oak spice.
Comment:
A deliciously enjoyable balance of
BenRiach peat smoke, oak and a lovely
sherry contribution. I did very much
enjoy the unpeated BenRiach 21 but now
having tasted this new peated Temporis
expression it would be hard to over look
it and confirms that BenRiach is at its
very best served peated.
